07 November 2008 First Ever Combined Large-Format 3D and Fulldome Theater at Cosmonova - Hybrid Digital Theater Design Open to Public at Swedish Museum of Natural History
The Cosmonova theater at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (SMNH), Stockholm has undergone an innovative digital display upgrade introducing a 23-meter fulldome display as well as a partial dome 3D theater experience. The 262 seat planetarium now displays high-resolution, crisp and colourful content in a 180° environment, in addition to a 17-meter (56-foot), windowed 3D display projected across the dome surface. Global Immersion integrated Fidelity 3D™ and Fidelity Bright™ solutions to fulfil the two projects requirements, including full theater and content management, control, automation and playback systems. After years of planning and implementation, the new California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, has completed its $488 million upgrade and relocation, with a grand public opening on Saturday 27th September 2008. Dubai is seeing stars after Country's first Fidelity Bright Display Installation - Global Immersion fulldome system installed entirely by Planetarium staff
The Children’s City Science Center, Dubai has upgraded its planetarium - contracting Global Immersion to supply the fulldome display and theater management system. The updated Science Center dome is now home to Global Immersion’s first project in Dubai: an ultra-high resolution fulldome solution including a Fidelity Bright projection system and an advanced media storage and playback package – updating the original opto-mechanical system to a digital fulldome theater. The installation of the fulldome solution was undertaken by staff at Children’s City Planetarium following an intensive engineering training course at the Global Immersion headquarters in the South of England.

Global Immersion brightens up Gates Planetarium in Denver
The Gates Planetarium at Denver Museum of Nature & Science (DMNS), Colorado is one of the latest digital fulldome theaters to become home to a Global Immersion Fidelity Bright system. As part of the upgrade, the previous 11-channel system that was originally installed by SEOS in 2002 has now been replaced with six channels of ultra-bright projection technologies and a custom Global Immersion theater optimization package. Chicago trip prize winners from Fareham School to be judged at Intech final
Twenty year-ten pupils from Fareham, Hampshire, have battled for the past two months for the chance to win an all expenses paid trip to Chicago at the end of June. Managed and funded by Global Immersion, the ‘Space Confidential’ competition has seen the fourteen and fifteen year-old students working with Cams Hill Science Consortium and Professors from Arizona and Boston Universiities to research extra-solar planet discovery and the potential existence of alien life. After two parallel public procurement processes, the Cosmonova theater at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (SMNH) in Stockholm has selected Global Immersion to upgrade and transform the existing theater into a state-of-the-art, fulldome technology suite. Installing advanced fulldome and partial 3D capabilities, the new theater will have the ability to create, process and display a range of exciting entertainment visuals and complex data sets.
